Traveling with a Firearm in California

The following rules apply to traveling with a firearm in California:

• the firearm must be locked in the trunk or in a locked container in the vehicle
• firearm is carried by the person directly to or from the car for any lawful purpose and it is in a locked container
• the person is not otherwise prohibited under state or federal law from possessing, receiving, owning or purchasing a firearm
