Indiana law requires dealers to conduct a background check prior to transferring a handgun, by contacting the FBI directly. However, Indiana has no law for a background check before the transfer of a handgun. Indiana does not require private firearm dealers to initiate a background check before transferring a firearm.
You are not required to take a safety course in order to own a firearm in Indiana.
